Martha Coakley commanded a 30 point spread in the beginning stages of the senate race in Massachusetts, then out of nowhere Scott Brown closed that gap only to pull ahead in the polls and sending the Democrat party into a tizzy. With the fear of losing a critical seat in the Senate, President Obama campaigned for Attorney General Martha Coakley to drum up support for the embattled candidate.
But, was it enough?
If Coakley loses, then this will mark the third time that Obama has campaigned for a democrat contender and lost. First was the governor races in Virginia and New Jersey, now it may be in Massachusetts and it may well leave no doubt that these losses are a reflection of his policies.
Polling data indicates that Obama's health care plan and backroom dealings with union bosses has caused his approval ratings to drop significantly in his first full year in office.
If Scott Brown wins, could this be an indication of things to come? Who knows.
